Starting intensity: _____

Tapping 1: I Can’t Have This Pain/Condition and Be Happy

Side of the Hand: Even though I can’t have this pain… this condition… and be happy… I accept myself and all of my feelings.

Even though there is NO WAY to have this pain… this condition… and be happy… I’d have to be a fool to try wouldn’t I?… I deeply and completely love and accept all of me.

Even though no one could possibly be happy and have this pain… this condition of mine… I’m open to the remote possibility of being happy anyway.

Top of the Head: This pain and all that it means to me.
Eyebrow: This condition and all that it means to me.
Side of the Eye: I could never be happy with this pain.
Under the Eye: Could I?
Under the Nose: It’s impossible to have this pain and be happy!
Chin: People with my condition are never happy.
Collarbone: I just can’t imagine having this condition and being happy.
Under the Arm: No one with this pain… this condition… could possibly be happy… ever!… so I’ve decided to be happily miserable for the rest of my life.

Take a slow breath.

Tapping 2: I Can’t Have This Pain/Condition and Be Happy

Side of the Hand: Even though I refuse to be happy while I still have this pain… this condition… I accept my stubborn self and all of my reasons.

Even though it’s ridiculous to be happy and also have this pain… this condition… I am open to the possibility of relief.

Even though I truly cannot have this pain… this condition of mine… and be happy, too… I deeply and profoundly love and accept all of me anyway.

Top of the Head: I have this pain… this condition.
Eyebrow: I can’t be happy.
Side of the Eye: I refuse to be happy.
Under the Eye: I want to be happy.
Under the Nose: I’d love to be even a bit happier.
Chin: That would be such a relief.
Collarbone: I am definitely open to RELIEF…
Under the Arm: As long as I don’t have to be happy!

Top of the Head: I can be happy.
Eyebrow: No I can’t.
Side of the Eye: Yes I can!
Under the Eye: What if I could be a bit happier than I am right now?
Under the Nose: What would it feel like to be happier?
Chin: Can I allow myself to be happy, for just a moment?
Collarbone: I can always make myself miserable… I have THAT power.
Under the Arm: I’m open to the possibility… that I also have the power to focus my mind… in ways that bring me relief… and even a bit of happiness.

Take a slow breath.
