Let Progress Be a Trend
Rapid shifts can happen, but chronic pain and long-held emotional patterns are often layered. A one-percent or five-percent change matters. Less throbbing, slightly easier movement, a little more emotional room, or a calmer breath can show that something is moving in a useful direction.
The larger skill is learning to notice the body’s whispers before they become screams. Small course corrections, practiced over time, can build a sense of agency that one dramatic result cannot provide by itself.
When Pain Is Too Intense for Words
If pain is so intense that forming a setup statement feels impossible, skip the words and begin with contact:
- tap gently around the points;
- use only one point that feels comforting;
- hold a point instead of tapping;
- touch very lightly; or
- imagine tapping if physical contact is too much.
You are already tuned in to the pain. Words are not required to prove that. An honest phrase as simple as It’s okay can offer companionship and comfort while you wait for enough settling to notice what else is happening.
When Pain Returns
The return of pain does not erase a period of relief. It may bring new information: another emotional layer, a stressful trigger, a protective fear about letting go, or a need for the body to consolidate change before more is ready to move.
Instead of criticizing your body, become curious:
- What is different this time?
- What feeling is here now?
- Does this connect with a Limiting Belief or Emotional State?
- What might support or soothe me in this moment?
The task is not to force an explanation. It is to stay in relationship with what your body is communicating.
Tapping: I Thought I Was Done
Side of the Hand: Even though I thought I was done… but the pain just came
back… and it’s so discouraging… I deeply and profoundly accept myself anyway.
Even though I thought I was done, I don’t know if I can handle this again, that
pain is back. I accept who I am and how I feel.
Even though I feel discouraged and even overwhelmed, I accept who I am and how
I feel.
Top of the Head: But it’s hard to accept my body.
Eyebrow: I thought I was done.
Side of the Eye: I feel discouraged.
Under the Eye: I feel overwhelmed.
Under the Nose: I feel discouraged.
Chin: I thought I was done.
Collarbone: This is disappointing.
Under the Arm: I thought I was done.
Take a slow breath.
Notice whether discouragement or overwhelm has shifted before deciding what to address next.
