Bring the Conflict into the Conversation

One part may want rest while another wants more play, food, television, connection, or freedom after a demanding day. Naming I do not want to go to bed brings the conflict out of automatic resistance and makes room for a real choice.

Feel the support beneath you, wiggle your toes, and take a comfortable breath.

Tapping: A Bed I Can Choose

Side of the Hand: Even though I do not want to go to bed, and you cannot
make me, I am open to getting some rest and making a good decision for me.

Even though I do not want to go to bed, and I am tired of this inner conflict,
I do not like waking exhausted. What if I could be more gentle and take better
care of myself?

The truth is that I do not want to go to bed. I have not made it a fun place to
go. What if bed could become a reward—a chance to renew and release?

Top of the Head: That would be different.
Eyebrow: Different from being forced to bed.
Side of the Eye: I do not want to go to bed.
Under the Eye: I do not want to go to the old kind of bed.
Under the Nose: The place where I was forced to sleep.
Chin: I did not know how to transition myself into rest.
Collarbone: What if I could transition gently now?
Under the Arm: And allow myself to release the day?

Top of the Head: I might like to go to that new kind of sleep.
Eyebrow: I am open to trying it.

Take a breath. Notice whether the adult choice feels more available, or whether
the resistant part has something more specific to say.
