Letting Go Begins With Contact

Trying to eject an emotion while resisting its existence often keeps it stuck. Begin by locating it in the body and acknowledging: This is here. It makes sense that I feel it. It may have a message for me.

An intense feeling can create the fear of being washed away, leading the body to clutch it tightly. Work with a small amount and allow motion rather than forcing disappearance.

Tapping: Let the Energy Move

Side of the Hand: Even though this emotion feels stuck right here, I honor
and respect my feelings and the part that learned to hold on.

Top of the Head: This emotion right here.
Eyebrow: I have been resisting it.
Side of the Eye: I learned that I could not handle it.
Under the Eye: My body and mind can handle a workable amount now.
Under the Nose: I embrace this emotion for this moment.
Chin: I listen for its message.
Collarbone: I let its energy begin to move through me.
Under the Arm: I can feel, honor, and release what is ready.

Develop the Muscles Gradually

After a minute or two, check what changed. The feeling may soften, move, separate into different emotions, or reveal another aspect. It may also ask for rest or support.

Like removing one pebble from a shoe, a focused practice can reduce the burden without requiring every old feeling to be processed at once.
