Anchor What You Are Learning
Reflection helps the Primitive Brain register that something has changed. It also helps identify what still applies the parking brake and what small step might build trust next.
There are no ideal answers. Respond from where you are now rather than where you think you should be. A few honest sentences are enough.
Notice Your Aha Moments
What are three of the most important realizations, surprises, or “aha” moments you received from engaging with the Primitive Brain in this module?
They can be large or very simple: noticing your feet, recognizing a protective intention, feeling less hostile toward a reaction, or discovering that a block has a reason.
Name the Current Relationship Block
When you think about your relationship with the Primitive Brain, what is the single biggest block to better connection that you notice right now?
Try to be specific. Instead of We do not get along, you might notice I become angry when my body freezes, I do not trust sensations, or Part of me is afraid that listening will mean giving up what I want.
Choose One Five-to-Ten-Minute Step
Return to the intention or life area you chose to focus on. What is one baby step toward it that could be completed in five to ten minutes?
Make the step small enough that you can imagine beginning it without demanding that the Primitive Brain surrender all concern. The purpose is to create an experience of movement and cooperation, not to prove how much you can force.
Calibrate How the Step Feels
Without pushing yourself to take the step, notice which description fits best:
- It feels easy, and I may already have begun.
- I think I can do it.
- It feels easier than before, but I am not sure I can start yet.
- It feels about the same as it did before.
- I am more aware of my blocks, and starting may feel harder right now.
Every answer is information. Increased awareness can initially feel less comfortable while still making the next round of support more accurate.
Ask What Would Reassure the Primitive Brain
Complete this sentence without requiring a perfect answer:
One thing I could do to reassure my Primitive Brain is…
The response might involve reducing the step, gathering information, asking for company, setting a boundary, allowing more time, tapping with a fear, or acknowledging that a concern makes sense.
Review what you wrote. Appreciate the honesty in it. Choose one response to carry into the next part of the Course, and allow the rest to remain useful information rather than unfinished homework.
