Listen, Then Practice
Look Ahead From a Life That Has Moved
Imagine that three years have passed and you are having a warm conversation with someone who knows you well. You feel pleased—not because every part of life is perfect, but because meaningful progress has happened.
What would you be happy to describe about your personal life? What would have moved professionally or creatively? What would feel more alive, connected, or true in your inner or spiritual life?
Let the question open possibilities before you make them practical. Write what comes without immediately correcting it for realism or other people’s expectations.
Find What Matters Most
Review what you wrote and choose three intentions in each area:
- personal;
- professional or creative; and
- spiritual, relational, or inner life.
The labels are flexible. Their purpose is to help you see a wider life rather than placing every hope in one category.
From these nine intentions, notice which carry the most energy. An intention may feel exciting, tender, relieving, or frightening. Activation does not automatically mean the intention is wrong. It may show where desire and protection meet.
Include Blocks, Resources, and Strengths
For each priority intention, ask three different kinds of questions:
- What appears to block or complicate this?
- What resources, relationships, opportunities, or existing momentum could support it?
- What strengths, skills, experiences, or qualities do I already bring?
Do not let the list of blocks become the whole story. The Primitive Brain may scan for danger first; deliberately including resources and strengths gives it a more complete picture of present reality.
Create a Ninety-Day Experiment
Choose one intention and describe a meaningful result you could notice within the next ninety days. Make it concrete enough to recognize while leaving room for co-creativity.
Then identify:
- one small action you can take;
- one person, resource, or form of support you can invite;
- one inner response that may need tapping, reassurance, or a smaller step;
- and one way you will know the experiment is helping.
This is not a demand that the future obey a plan. It is a way to bring a valued direction close enough for your whole system to engage with it.
Let the Intention Become a Conversation
Read the intention aloud and notice your body. Where is there energy, warmth, hesitation, fog, pressure, or a pull away? Ask the Primitive Brain what it wants you to know about this direction.
Listen without assuming every fear is a command. Protection can contribute information while your heart, present-day capacities, and available support also participate in the decision.
