Watch, Then Practice

Begin with Support
Take a slow, comfortable breath. Feel your feet, back, or body resting against what supports you. Let gravity do its work. You do not have to hold yourself up all by yourself in this moment.
Bring one current stress to mind from enough distance that it does not overwhelm you. Notice where the body responds most strongly. You do not need to change the sensation yet. Be quietly present with it while you breathe.
Notice the Shape of the Stress
Explore gently:
- How intense is this from 0 to 10?
- Is there tightness, pressure, burning, aching, movement, or another sensation?
- Does it have a color, sound, pattern, or flow?
- What emotion feels strongest?
If several emotions appear, imagine them as strands in a pile of cooked spaghetti. Let the less intense strands rest to the side for now. Give your attention to one feeling at a time.
If the emotion becomes too strong, imagine moving it farther away. The aim is to let most of your body remain supported while one part receives caring attention.
Offer Presence Instead of Pressure
If it feels right, place a hand on the area. Thank this part of the body for carrying what it has carried. Ask whether it wants to say anything. Do not supply an answer or judge silence.
You may notice a memory, an old belief, or a fear that something painful will happen again. A reaction learned when you were very young may still arrive with its original urgency. Appreciate the mind and body for trying to protect you, even when their alarm is no longer matched to this moment.
Invite What Is Ready to Release
Send kindness to the body sensation and the emotion. Anger, grief, fear, joy, and the rest of the emotional range are colors in the human crayon box. Being present with one does not make it bad or permanent.
As you breathe, invite excess energy that is no longer needed to leave in whatever image feels natural—perhaps like butterflies returning to the wider world. Bring any useful clarity with you. Feel your support again and open your eyes when ready.
You may tap with what remains, repeat the meditation with a newly revealed layer, write down an insight, or simply rest. Appreciate your willingness to meet yourself carefully and lovingly.
