Transforming Your Energy 2013, Part 2

Bored college studentIn this part 2 we’ll show you how to look at a specific anxiety-producing thoughts and transform it into one that helps you feel empowered. (If you missed part 1 you can find it on Thrivingnow.com.)

Transforming an Anxiety-Producing Thought Into an Empowering One

What is one specific anxiety-producing thought you have about yourself?

In particular, negative “I am…” statements impact our energy and deplete our life force. What is a negative one you (or your inner critic) says?

I am _____________________________________.

Write it down.

Next, say the statement out loud and notice where you feel it in your body. How intense does it feel?

I feel this thought in my _________________ and it is around an _______ on a 0-10 scale where 10 feels AWFUL.

For our example, we’ll use “I am lazy and never get anything done” and feeling in the throat. You can either replace those with your specifics… or tap along out loud using these statements and let your body-mind connect the dots for you.

Let’s do some tapping! (Learn about EFT Tapping here:https://www.thrivingnow.com/tapping)

Karate chop: Even though I am lazy and never get anything done, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I am lazy… I just AM… I am open to the possibility of changing this energy.

Even though I am lazy and never get anything done… I am in the process of transforming this energy.

Top of the Head: I’m LAZY.
Eyebrow: I never get ANYTHING done!
Side of the Eye: I am lazy.
Under the Eye: I feel that in my throat.
Under the Nose: I am lazy.
Chin: That’s what I tell myself.
Collarbone: I’m lazy.
Under the Arm: A part of me really buys that.

Top of the Head: But is it true?
Take a deep breath.

Notice how you feel back in your body. Say the statement out loud again. “I am ______.” Does it still feel as intense? Has it moved or shifted in any way. That is what we’re looking for… a shift in the energy. If it moves or changes in any way, we are transforming this distressing thought!

Okay, now let’s give the energy a direction.

How would you like to feel? ________________________________________________.

For this example, let’s use “confident, engaged, and focused on what matters to my heart.”

Karate chop: Even though I am lazy and never get anything done, I am open to feeling confident, engaged, and focused on what matters to my heart.

Even though a part of me is insists that I am lazy, I intend to become more confident, engaged, and focused.

Even though this notion that I am lazy and never get anything done has been with me a long time, today I am transforming that energy to feel confident, engaged, and focused on what matters to my heart.

Top of the Head: I am lazy.
Eyebrow: What if I’m not?
Side of the Eye: There are things I don’t want to do.
Under the Eye: And things I do.
Under the Nose: I’ve decided to accept myself…
Chin: And reactivate my confidence…
Collarbone: Engage my heart AND my mind…
Under the Arm: And focus my energy on what matters.

Top of the Head: I do get things done.
Eyebrow: I’m tapping right now.
Side of the Eye: I’m taking the energy of self-criticism…
Under the Eye: And transforming it.
Under the Nose: I want to express myself.
Chin: I want to express myself.
Collarbone: I choose to express myself!
Under the Arm: With confidence…
Top of the Head: Engaging my focused energy on what matters to my heart.

Take a deep breath.

Man in eyeglasses smilingNotice how you feel now. Can you feel any of that stuck, negative energy morphing into an energy that feels more alive?

We’ve noticed in our work that people who were once highly negative and self-critical, with the right coaching and new perspectives, can free up tremendous creative energy through this approach.

1) Take an anxiety producing thought… write it down… notice where it hangs out in the body…

2) Tap on it!

3) Decide how you’d like to feel.

4) Tap and intend the energy to transform.

Would you try that and give us feedback on what you notice?

In part 3 of this series, we’ll take something you are doing that isn’t Who You Want To Be… and transform that energy into congruent action.

Warm smiles,

Rick & Cathy
