Dr. Phil Mollon on Trauma We have enjoyed the insights and teachings of Dr. Phil Mollon, a British psychoanalyst who works with a combined attention to the dynamics of the mind and the energy fields of the body - resulting in the approach called Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy. Here is an article of his on Trauma.
Curiosity & Play: Energy for a Thriving Life Stress. Strain. Pain. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just FIX IT… like a flat tire or broken headlight? If we balance the natural stresses of daily life with thoughts and actions that bring us peace, joy, and bliss… our body refreshes and renews itself. It heals. It radiates well-being. This is where a shift in attitude from “FIX ME!” to one of curiosity and play can make a potent impact.
Feeling Safer We enjoy life and function better when we feel safer. No matter what you are doing... from enjoying a BBQ with friends, weeding the flowerbeds, taking a walk, or doing spring cleaning... you will feel more present and focused if you feel safe. When we feel even "a bit" threatened or nervous, there is a constant underlying tension and worry. Part of our attention is always focused on the threat. Yet for many of us, we don’t even know what the danger is! We just feel unsafe.
Cluttered Inbox Tapping (EFT) We want to focus in on a form of clutter that can drive us batty and make us feel disorganized and stressed, even if it isn't sitting out in our livingroom: Clutter in Your Inbox.
Parable of the Thriving Apples Once upon a time, a long long time ago, there lived a very brave young man. Because he also had a deeply compassionate heart, great intellect, a quiet strength, and a quick wit, he was much loved. ... Once he was caught in a stampede...
Spring Cleaning Your Clutter Clutter!!! Sometimes it seems to take on a life of its own. Does your "stuff" seem to multiply when you're not looking? Is it stressing you out? Are you ready for a calm, organized home, office, life, and mind?
I Do NOT Want to be HERE! It's perfectly natural to want to be somewhere else (or even be someone else) when we hurt. We just don't want to feel what we feel when it isn't pleasant... especially when we don't know how to start feeling better.
When It Is Illegal… Should Marijuana Be Legalized? When anything is illegal, it adds another SIGNIFICANT block to individuals being able to seek out help if they want to eliminate or balance out their use.
Self-Sabotage: I Don’t Deserve What I Want One of the reasons people don't succeed is because some part of them doesn't believe they deserve to have success. It could be because you spilled grape juice on the carpet when you were 2, or that you felt too needy when you were 3. Whatever it is, it may be holding you back now.
Still Bracing for Impact? If you've ever been in an accident, and are still suffering from pain in those areas of your body long after it "should" have healed, you may want to ask your body: Are you still bracing for impact?
Little “t” Traumas - The Stick On The Path The little girl was having such a nice day, running and playing in the fields barefoot on the farm. Her mother called her from the house. "Lunch time!" She ran down the path headed for food. A stick was on the path, and being barefoot, she jumped over it. And it MOVED!
ACE Study - Childhood Trauma and Obesity One of the clearly missing links in any discussion or plan for weight loss is... safety. If we do not feel safe being slender, fit, and sexually more attractive... we WILL NOT. Our primitive brain will kick in and have us drop out of a successful program, binge, sabotage, ANYTHING to return to the safety of being obese. This makes total sense if one understand the role of undischarged trauma and how it affects our biology and behavior.
