by Cathy Vartuli Your heart is racing, breath is coming fast, palms are sweating. You feel scared, jumpy, and vigilant. Panic attacks, anxiety attacks… whatever you call them, they are terrifying. They are especially overwhelming because we are stuck in a fear-based feedback loop. Understanding what’s going on can give you an edge on releasing them.
We enjoy life and function better when we feel safer. No matter what you are doing… from enjoying a BBQ with friends, weeding the flowerbeds, taking a walk, or doing spring cleaning… you will feel more present and focused if you feel safe. When we feel even “a bit” threatened or nervous, there is a constant underlying tension and worry. Part of our attention is always focused on the threat. Yet for many of us, we don’t even know what the danger is! We just feel unsafe.
We genuinely can’t control the future. We are often afraid because: Bad things have happened in the past, so we expect bad things to happen (and attract them). We don’t trust ourselves to deal with what occurs, good or bad. We either don’t know or doubt our ability to create abundance and safety
Have you ever had someone tell you, “Hey, just relax!” As if it was that easy! When we’re feeling stress and anxiety, we’re operating from a part of our primitive programming that isn’t INTERESTED in relaxing. It wants to fight, take flight, or freeze in place… quivering with fright.

So, you have anxiety. You use EFT on the anxiety over and over again, and it keeps returning. Is EFT not working, or is there something else going on? Consider this: would it make sense for your inner guidance to leave you feeling relaxed if you were headed the wrong way, away from where you really intend to go? If your answer is, “I’d prefer to know I was headed in the wrong direction,” let’s look at how you might discern between body sensations that are guiding you and emotions that are disruptions in your energy system that you can soothe with EFT.
