How to Clear Clutter in 3 Easy Steps

Ignoring clutter takes energy. Stepping over, searching through, hunting under, stumbling through… it eats up precious moments and sucks the joy out. Imagine how much simpler and straightforward each day would be, how much quieter and efficient your home would be, and how much room you’d have for fun and play if you could clear it up once and for all?

If you’re ready to wipe out your clutter and create clean ease in your life, get Rick Wilkes and Carol Look’s Clearing Clutter program and wipe the slate clean!

How much of your life is diminished by the clutter?

Do you wish there was a simple way to allow the noise and mess to flow out of your life? Here are 3 steps to releasing a big block…one that could be keeping you stuck with your junk and noise.

1) Sometimes the answer is as simple as letting go… and to let go, you just have to identify the reasons you’re holding on.

Pick one (and just one) thing that you want to clear out. Something you know you’d be better off without, and yet you can’t get yourself to sell it, give, or throw it away. Put that item in front of you and take a nice deep breath. Notice what you feel in your body as you look at your piece of clutter. Now imagine how you’d feel if you could snap your fingers and that clutter was gone (ignore how it would disappear for now).

What would you feel? What would miss, if anything? Why do you want to hold on to this particular piece of clutter?

I would feel _____________ if I let this clutter go.

Write down how intense that feeling is 0-10 (10 being the most intense) ____

2) Identify the story behind the feeling.

Ask yourself why you would feel that (and if the reason isn’t logical… that’s perfect!).

If I let this clutter go, I would feel _________ because ____________________.

When did you learn to feel this? How old were you? ____

What happened in your past to convince you that letting go of the clutter will create that feeling?

3) Tap on the story and release the stuck energy.

Keep that story and the event where you learned it from in mind. Let’s do some tapping! (Learn about EFT Tapping here:https://www.thrivingnow.com/tapping)

Karate chop: Even though whenever I think of letting go of this item, I feel ______, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I decided long ago that I need to hold on so I can avoid that feeling, I’m open to relaxing and finding a new way to move through this.

Even though I’ve had to hold on tight to avoid this feeling, I’m willing to look at it right now and let it go.

Top of the Head: That clutter is my defense from this feeling.
Eyebrow: I can’t let it go!
Side of the Eye: I need it!
Under the Eye: I can’t handle that feeling!
Under the Nose: I can’t face it.
Chin: At least I couldn’t when I was younger…
Collarbone: What if I can face it and release it now?
Under the Arm: That horrible ______ feeling.

Top of the Head: I’ve been avoiding it.
Eyebrow: But this clutter isn’t working for me anymore.
Side of the Eye: I don’t need to run away anymore.
Under the Eye: I want my freedom.
Under the Nose: And my space.
Chin: If I can just let this item go…
Collarbone: But I’m afraid.
Under the Arm: And I’m also stronger than I’ve ever been.

Top of the Head: I can release this.
Eyebrow: And I can CHOOSE whether I keep this item or not.
Side of the Eye: I don’t have to let that old feeling clutter my life.
Under the Eye: I can start with clearing out my beliefs.
Under the Nose: I’m releasing the ones that don’t work for me anymore.
Chin: I don’t need STUFF to ground me.
Collarbone: I can tap and release.
Under the Arm: And choose what’s right to keep in my life.
Top of the Head: Whether it’s beliefs or stuff!

Take a deep breath.

Look at that item in front of you again. Imagine letting it go, and notice what you feel: _______________ and how intense it is (0-10) _____.

Repeat the tapping above with the new feeling and intensity you have now. As you release these old beliefs, clutter will start to easily move out of your life and greater peace abundance can flow in.

If you want more help with this, Carol and Rick’s Clearing Clutter program is AMAZING. I tapped through it and had to get a Uhaul to take all the things that no longer fit in my life to the Women’s Shelter.

  • I just had the most amazing insight after tapping. I initially connected holding onto stuff and clutter because of losing my home to a hurricane. I evacuated and never moved back. But then I realized that too much clutter was in my life before. In a moment of clarity I could see how my parents’ divorce and my leaving the city where I grew up, my “home” and friends perhaps initially started the clutter pattern. I feel so much better! I will continue to use this script and finally get a handle on the clutter.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
