Key #3 — Together is Better

Invitation

To loosen the feeling that you must do everything alone, begin with relationships that are already happening: gravity, air, water, plants, and sunlight. You are not outside nature asking it to help. You are part of its ongoing exchange.

Together with Gravity

Notice the contact beneath you. Raise a hand and feel gravity’s resistance; let it lower and feel gravity help. Allow the jaw or shoulders to release a little of their work.

Top of the Head: I am together with gravity.
Eyebrow: Gravity has me in its embrace.
Side of the Eye: I move and dance with gravity.
Under the Eye: Gravity is with me.
Under the Nose: Gravity is reliable.
Chin: I can let part of my body relax and receive its help.
Collarbone: Together with gravity, my shoulders can settle toward earth.
Under the Arm: I rarely think about gravity, and yet it is with me.
Top of the Head: I am feeling this relationship in everything I do.

Together with Air and Breath

Place a hand on the upper chest and feel a breath arrive and leave. Air becomes part of the body; the out-breath returns molecules to the world. This exchange continues whether or not you pay attention.

Top of the Head: I am with the air.
Eyebrow: We exchange energy every minute.
Side of the Eye: Breath and air interact with me all the time.
Under the Eye: I am together with the air.
Under the Nose: It is more intimate than I usually notice.
Chin: Parts of me return to the air.
Collarbone: Parts of the air become part of me.
Under the Arm: I am together with the air, and it is together with me.
Top of the Head: I am open to feeling less alone with every breath.

Together with Water, Plants, and Sun

Take a sip of water if you have some. Imagine the journey of those molecules through clouds, rivers, plants, animals, and other bodies. Water in your cells has participated in a world much larger than this moment.

Sunlight drives much of that living exchange. Plants transform sunlight, water, air, and minerals into forms that become food, tissue, movement, and life. Touch a tree or imagine one. Feel yourself in the same ecology.

Move through the points with phrases such as:

Water is in me. Water that was once in a tree, grass, flowers, rivers, and
food. I am part of nature. At the core level, I belong to this exchange.

Let Nature Share the Work

Togetherness with nature is not an abstract belief. Let gravity help release a shoulder. Let an exhale carry what is ready to leave. Let water replenish. Let a tree, sky, or patch of sunlight remind the body that exchange is happening all the time.

That can be a nourishing core practice for Relief NOW.
