The Law of Attraction can be empowering. It can also be misunderstood in ways that create shame.
At its simplest, the Law of Attraction points to a pattern many of us notice:
What we are vibrating, we tend to notice, filter for, resonate with, and attract more of.
If we are in frustration, the same stack of papers looks frustrating. If we are in overwhelm, the same stack looks impossible. If we are in curiosity, that same stack may look useful, interesting, or full of possibility.
Same stack. Different vibration. Different experience.
The missing piece we emphasize is the body.
Your conscious thoughts matter, but they are not the whole vibration. Your heart, gut, primitive brain, old traumas, protective beliefs, and body memories are also participating. If your head says, “I welcome abundance,” while your body says, “Abundance is dangerous,” allowing becomes difficult.
That is where tapping becomes so practical.
This guide helps with:
- understanding Law of Attraction without turning it into self-blame
- noticing how your current vibration filters your experience
- including the body, not just conscious thought
- using tapping to shift fear, trauma, resistance, and “yes, but” responses
- practicing allowing without forcing a specific channel
- using contrast as information rather than punishment
- reaching for appreciation, neutrality, curiosity, and emotional relief
- applying the vibrational scale gently in real life
What Is Law of Attraction?
Where we are vibrating influences what we notice, how we respond, and what becomes available to us.
“Like attracts like” is a useful beginning.
If you are vibrating in frustration, you will likely notice what is frustrating. If you are vibrating in appreciation, you are more likely to notice what is working. If you are vibrating in fear, you may filter for threat. If you are vibrating in curiosity, possibilities become easier to see.
This is not just mystical language. It is also practical emotional awareness.
Your nervous system, attention, memory, body state, and expectations all shape what you perceive and how you act. Those actions and perceptions then influence what happens next.
The Law of Attraction is not separate from your body. It is not only what you say in an affirmation. It includes what your whole system expects, fears, remembers, resists, and allows.
The Three Steps: Asking, Providing, Allowing
We are naturally good at asking. Allowing is often where the body needs support.
Abraham-Hicks often describes three broad steps:
- Asking
- The universe providing
- Allowing what has been asked for
Asking happens naturally. Life gives us contrast, desire, hunger, preference, and clarity. We ask for warmth because we have felt cold. We ask for love because we have felt loneliness. We ask for ease because we have felt struggle.
The universe providing is not something we have to micromanage.
Allowing is where many of us get tangled:
- If your conscious mind wants more love, but your body remembers heartbreak as unbearable, allowing love may feel unsafe.
- If your mind wants more money, but your primitive brain links money with abandonment, obligation, jealousy, or danger, allowing money may feel impossible.
This is why the question matters:
What about this does not feel completely safe?
That question is not meant to stop you. It helps you find the place to tap.
Do Not Turn Contrast Into Self-Blame
Contrast can be a doorway for healing, not proof that you are bad or broken.
One painful misunderstanding of the Law of Attraction is the idea that if something hard happens, you must have attracted it because you are bad, wrong, or low-vibration.
That is not our approach.
The Universe is not punishing you for being human. Contrast may show you where there is fear, resistance, old trauma, unresolved grief, self-criticism, or a reaction that wants healing.
For example, if a business owner hates refund requests because they feel like rejection, the useful question is not, “What is wrong with me that I attracted a refund?”
The useful question is:
What is my reaction to this refund, and what does that reaction remind me of?
When the rejection charge softens, the practical event becomes easier to handle. Sometimes the outer pattern shifts too. And even when it does not, your freedom increases.
Tapping: Contrast Without Self-Blame
Use this when something has happened and your mind turns the Law of Attraction against you.
Side of the Hand: Even though this happened, and part of me is blaming myself for attracting it, I am open to a kinder and more useful way to look at this.
Even though I am asking, “What did I do wrong?” I am willing to ask, “What is my reaction, and what wants healing?”
Even though this contrast is uncomfortable, I do not have to use it as evidence against myself.
Top of the Head: This happened
Eyebrow: And I am blaming myself
Side of the Eye: I must have attracted this
Under the Eye: I must have done something wrong
Under the Nose: That thought hurts
Chin: And it does not help me heal
Collarbone: What if this is information?
Under the Arm: What if this is a doorway?
Top of the Head: My reaction matters
Eyebrow: My body is showing me something
Side of the Eye: There may be an old fear here
Under the Eye: There may be an old wound here
Under the Nose: There may be a belief ready to shift
Chin: I can tap on what is active now
Collarbone: I can release self-blame
Under the Arm: And choose a more loving response
Take a breath. Ask, “What is the emotion in my body right now?”
The Body Is Part of the Vibration
Affirmations work best when the body can come along.
Affirmations can be useful when they already feel mostly true.
If you say, “I am prosperous,” and your body feels open, warm, and aligned, repeating that may strengthen the vibration.
But if you say, “I am prosperous,” and your stomach clenches, your throat closes, or your mind says, “Yeah, but…” then the affirmation has revealed a tapping target.
The “yeah, but” is not failure. It is guidance.
Examples:
- “I welcome more money.” Yeah, but money makes people use me.
- “I am ready for love.” Yeah, but last time broke my heart.
- “I am visible and successful.” Yeah, but people will criticize me.
- “I am healthy and free.” Yeah, but I do not trust my body.
Tap on the yes-but. That is where the body is asking to be included.
Tapping: The Yes-But
Use this when an affirmation or desire brings up body resistance.
Side of the Hand: Even though I want this, and my body says, “Yes, but…” I accept that this resistance may be trying to keep me safe.
Even though my conscious mind wants to allow this, another part of me has concerns, and I am willing to listen.
Even though I would love to be congruent right now, I can tap with the part that is not there yet.
Top of the Head: I want this
Eyebrow: Yes, but
Side of the Eye: I really want this
Under the Eye: Yes, but it might not be safe
Under the Nose: My body has concerns
Chin: My primitive brain has concerns
Collarbone: I do not have to fight those concerns
Under the Arm: I can listen and tap
Top of the Head: What does this remind me of?
Eyebrow: Where do I feel the resistance?
Side of the Eye: What feels dangerous about allowing this?
Under the Eye: What would change if I received it?
Under the Nose: Who might react?
Chin: What old memory is active?
Collarbone: I can soothe the yes-but
Under the Arm: And allow a little more congruence
Top of the Head: This or something better
Eyebrow: In a way that is safe for my body
Side of the Eye: In a way that respects my heart
Under the Eye: In a way that includes my gut
Under the Nose: I can allow one layer at a time
Chin: I can become more congruent
Collarbone: I can receive more gently
Under the Arm: I am open to allowing
Take a breath. Try the affirmation again and notice whether the body response has changed.
Do Not Lock Abundance to One Channel
The Universe may have more ways to deliver than the one your mind is gripping.
It is natural to want abundance from a specific channel:
- this job
- this boss
- this partner
- this client
- this offer
- this sale
- this one person loving me back
But when we lock abundance to one channel, the primitive brain can get involved. The energy becomes tight:
It has to come from here, or I am not safe.
That tightness makes allowing harder.
A more spacious phrase is:
This or something even better.
That does not mean you cannot want what you want. It means you are not asking one person, job, client, or channel to be the whole universe for you.
Ask for the essence:
- loving connection
- financial abundance
- meaningful work
- satisfying contribution
- safe visibility
- mutual desire
- freedom
- ease
Then let the channel be more flexible.
Post-Manifestational Awareness
Once something has happened, the next useful move is emotional awareness, not punishment.
If you lose a job, get sick, receive criticism, experience a breakup, or hit a business snag, you are in post-manifestational awareness: the thing has already shown up.
You can look back and ask:
- What was my vibration around this?
- What was I feeling every day?
- What relief had I been asking for?
- What was I ignoring?
- What reaction is active now?
But if that becomes self-blame, pause and tap.
Sometimes the most useful question is not, “Why did I attract this?”
It is:
How do I feel now, and what would help me shift toward a more empowered vibration from here?
Maybe the next step is fear relief. Maybe it is grief. Maybe it is rest. Maybe it is curiosity. Maybe it is appreciating one small thing: the color of a bedsheet, the warmth of a cup, the fact that the phone still works, the kindness of one person.
Small appreciations can open a doorway.
Moving on the Vibrational Scale
You do not have to leap from despair to bliss. A small trend shift matters.
If you are in fear, grief, shame, or pain, “just be positive” can feel violent.
Reach for a small shift instead.
- From panic to naming the panic.
- From shame to “I have reasons.”
- From despair to one breath.
- From resentment to clarity.
- From overwhelm to one next step.
- From fear to curiosity.
- From frustration to neutral.
- From neutral to appreciation.
Tapping helps because it lets us acknowledge what is true while inviting the body to move. We are not bypassing reality. We are shifting our relationship to it.
Tapping: Reaching for a Small Shift
Use this when a high vibration feels too far away.
Side of the Hand: Even though I cannot jump for joy right now, I can reach for a little relief, and that counts.
Even though part of me thinks I should be more positive, I accept where I actually am.
Even though this vibration is not where I want to live, I can soften it one honest step at a time.
Top of the Head: I am here
Eyebrow: This is where I am vibrating right now
Side of the Eye: I do not have to pretend
Under the Eye: I do not have to leap to bliss
Under the Nose: I can reach for a small shift
Chin: Maybe a little more neutral
Collarbone: Maybe a little more curious
Under the Arm: Maybe a little less self-blame
Top of the Head: One breath
Eyebrow: One softer thought
Side of the Eye: One thing I can appreciate
Under the Eye: One place in my body that can relax
Under the Nose: One kind word to myself
Chin: One next step
Collarbone: One doorway toward allowing
Under the Arm: That is enough for now
Take a breath. Look around and notice one thing that feels even slightly easier to appreciate.
A Gentle Practice
Use the Law of Attraction as a practice of awareness, not a weapon against yourself.
Try this daily or whenever you notice a strong emotional charge:
- Name your current vibration.
- Notice where it lives in your body.
- Ask, “What does this remind me of?”
- Tap on the active emotion or yes-but.
- Look for one small thing to appreciate.
- Ask for this or something even better.
- Let the next step be body-congruent.
Play helps. Curiosity helps. Gentleness helps.
Law of Attraction is not a demand to be perfect with your thoughts. It is an invitation to become more aware of your vibration and more free to shift it.
Thriving Now’s approach to Law of Attraction is deeply influenced by Abraham-Hicks, including the language of asking, allowing, and the vibrational scale, and by Carol Look’s work bringing Emotional Freedom Techniques into abundance, business, and emotional healing.
