How important is strength and accuracy in tapping?

How important is the strength and accuracy of the tapping ? Would there be any increased benefit tapping with greater intensity ?

First, accuracy. As a massage therapist and energy practitioner, I can easily feel when the client has hit the “right spot” whether I am tapping on the person or tapping along on myself. As I teach folks, they learn how to feel the subtle difference between being right on target and being off. Does it matter? Yes, it does. Can you get results and still be way off? Yes, you can. I don’t think anyone has tried to quantify the difference. Remember the points are ALONG a pathway, and tapping anywhere on the pathway seems to connect. As an electrical engineer by training, I like to be a bit more precise, and encourage folks to feel for the spots. Good self-awareness practice .

On intensity, I would play around with it. Sometimes… LESS IS MORE. Sometimes MORE IS MORE. I find when walking through EFT sessions that my intensity will vary, going from touch and breathe (no tapping) to pretty rigorous but still respectful and not injurious. Be careful under the eye; that is a sensitive spot.

You can also vary the rhythm. And the number of taps at each point. As you learn, just let your body and intuition guide you.

If you are only tapping with one hand, try tapping with two hands on the top of head, eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, and collarbone. (It’s hard to do under nose and chin with two hands at the same time; you end up with both hands off to the side of the points!).
