Acts of Love For Yourself

Acts of Love For Yourself 1We can feel cut off from ourselves at times, and our hearts can feel dry and alone. What can we do to help rekindle the love we feel for ourselves?

Simple acts of love can make partners feel warm and connected. The same can be true when we’re loving ourselves. It may take a bit to get the flow going again, especially if we’ve had a dry spell… or never learned how to love ourselves.

What makes you feel special when someone else does it? What was the last time your heart felt touched by someone else? Was it a thoughtful gift? Quiet time spent together? A warm hug? Help on a project that had been hanging over your head? A sincere compliment?

Why do you need to wait for someone else to help you fill your heart with love? Could you give yourself a small gift? Spend 20 minutes quietly meditating or taking a warm bath? Could you brush your hair gently and mindfully? Finish up the laundry that’s been staring you in the face for days as a gift for yourself? Offer yourself a kind word?

Many of us were taught that nice things had to come from the outside. We had to be good… patient… and MAYBE just maybe we’d get the love and appreciation we needed.

Ugh.

As adults, we don’t have to wait. We can help our heart feel loved, which raises our vibration and helps us attract more love and connection. And it feels empowering to know we aren’t dependent on the attention of others to feel good, doesn’t it?

What stops you from being kind to yourself? Experts often recommend that partners with marriage problems do one nice thing a day for their spouse, to help reconnect and open the flow. What is one nice thing you could do for yourself today?

Let’s do some tapping together…

Karate Chop: Even though I’m used to waiting for love from the outside, what if I can show myself I’m lovable right now?

Even though my heart feels empty and alone, and I’ve been asking for someone to fill it, I choose to start filling my own heart with love and feel more empowered and acceptable.

Even though I though I had to wait for them, or him, or her, I’m ready to start loving myself. I’m not giving up on others loving me… I definitely want that too, but I’ve decided to start filling my heart with love and connecting with myself, too.

Top of the Head: I thought if I was just good enough…
Eyebrow: They would fill my heart with love.
Side of the Eye: Then they would appreciate me.
Under the Eye: I do love receiving love and appreciation.
Under the Nose: But I’m tired of relying only on others.
Chin: What if I could start loving myself right now?
Collarbone: This isn’t what I’m used to.
Under the Arm: But self-love could be really, really good for me.

Top of the Head: I do want more love.
Eyebrow: I thought it had to come from them.
Side of the Eye: But maybe my heart is crying out for me, too.
Under the Eye: What if I could show myself that I’m loved…
Under the Nose: By me?
Chin: What could I do that would help me feel loved?
Collarbone: I could appreciate 3 things about me now.
Under the Arm: I could do something simple yet special for me.

Top of the Head: This is all really new to me.
Eyebrow: I may not get it right all the time.
Side of the Eye: But I would like to feel more love in my heart.
Under the Eye: I want love from them… true.
Under the Nose: And from me… now true.
Chin: I’m open to finding ways to show my love.
Collarbone: I ask the Universe to help me receive this.
Under the Arm: And to reconnect with myself.
Top of the Head: I’m ready to fill my heart with love, and allow all kinds of warmth to flow in.

Take a deep breath.

Acts of Love For Yourself 2How does that feel? If it feels good, wonderful! A bit of practice and your heart can be overflowing with warm feelings!

If you had “yeah-buts” coming up, or lots of resistance, ask yourself why. When did you learn that you weren’t supposed to love yourself or do nice things for yourself? What are the “rules” you’d be breaking? Is it selfish to love yourself? Who told you so?

We personally find that when we feel loved and appreciated, we tend to radiate that and send many colors and flavors of appreciation to others. It’s much easier to connect when we feel safe and satisfied rather than depleted and deprived, right?!

If you’ve been looking for a supportive environment where you can learn and practice nurturing yourself and filling your heart with love, our Group Coaching Program is a wonderful way to connect. We delight in empowering people to love and appreciate themselves! Join us today!

  • Donridzuan says:

Like you say it will take sometime for it to start to flow…..

  • i find it really hard to like myself when full of pain and overwhelm – like i need the love to come from outside – needing a physical hug desperately that i know isn’t going to be there – i shall use this tapping – thank you for sharing it……………..carol

  • Wanda Iqbal says:

It is difficult to allow myself to receive love when my heart feels closed. I know now that in that moment I am convinced that I am not lovable.  Now I can ask the universe to help me receive the love. This is working for me.!!! Thank  you.

    •  You might try allowing your heart to feel closed from “outside” energy, while allowing yourself to feel warm and snuggled Inside. We often learn to close ourselves off because the outside energy we’re getting from others isn’t delicious.

  • This eft has always made me feel good . I remember the first time doing it . I Was hurt and let down by people I loved. It was Christmas time . That Rick sent me this tap. I thought this man understands . Now when I do this tap . I feel so happy. And I’m more friendly towards others.
