What are New Yorkers like?
Two women who came from different small towns in the heartland relocated to New York.
The first asked the pastor of her new church, “What are New Yorkers like?”
The pastor responded, “What were the people like in the town you just left?”
The newcomer answered, “They were not very nice. Elitist. Exclusionary. Gossip mongers. I didn’t like them at all.”
“You’ll find New Yorkers are the same way,” he said.
The second woman asked the pastor the very same question, and he again responded with, “What were the people like in the town you just left?”
She answered, “They were kind and generous. There was a wonderful sense of community and I made so many friends.”
The pastor’s response to her was the same as it was to the first woman: “You’ll find New Yorkers are the same way.”
