Pasta triggered craving for soda

Yesterday I ate a big bowl of pasta around 4pm. I felt great… for about an hour. By five o’clock I felt quite queasy and had strong craving for a Dr. Pepper. I have not had a soda since May, and EFT has helped me with the old memories like Mom using cola when I had an upset stomach (which was usually from some fear I had). So, why was this craving cropping up suddenly?

White pasta is refined carbs, and they hit my system as if I had eaten a bowl of sugar with a little olive oil and Old Bay seasoning on top. When the blood sugar crash came, my biochemistry was reminded of how I used to respond, by drinking a soda.

Here is how I used EFT:

“Even though I have this sudden, unwelcome craving for a Dr. Pepper, I ask my body to balance my blood sugar and direct me to food that will help."

The intensity of the craving dropped from an 8 to a 1-2, and a small portion of meat (that moments before I rejected) tasted so good and balanced my system.

Let me add: we do not have soda in the house. If we did, I am not sure I wouldn’t have started drinking one since the urge was so strong. It really is best to keep sugar delivery vehicles out of the house. If I did have soda available, the important intervention would have been before I ate the bowl of pasta. Most nutritional experts agree that refined sugars eaten alone without protein can trigger the kind of reaction I describe. I know better.

“Even though I know better and ate the plain pasta anyway, I deeply and completely accept myself anyway."
