Is There No Higher Purpose?
Christina asks: I guess my main question is on life’s purpose. I am currently reading the new book Abraham-Hicks book, The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent : Living the Art of Allowing. From the very little that I have read so far, I get the feeling that our purpose on this earth is simply to enjoy this physical adventure… that there is no higher purpose than that. Am I correct in assuming that?Imagine that you have set a banquet of incredible deliciousness. There are choices for ALL tastes. Would you not want your guests to delight in what they personally found pleasing? The vegetarians could be oooooohhhing and aaaaahhhing over the scrumptuous green beans in virgin olive oil, perfectly steamed to a crispy aliveness. The carnivores would be grunting in deep pleasure over the perfect prime rib.
Or… Should the vegatarians spend their time arguing over the wrongness of the meat eaters to serve a Higher Purpose and the meat eaters defend themselves and slay the vegans to maintain their freedom to pursue food their body asks for?
Often times humans decide that their higher purpose is to heal the world. Or heal even one aspect of it. So they see something they don’t want and they focus their life force on changing it. Of course, such attention draws to it opposing forces. And the forces engage, based on the Law of Attraction.
If we set ourselves to a higher purpose that requires others to give up their freedom, well, we are setting ourselves against the Universe. Source expresses itself in INFINITE ways, including many ways we do not prefer.
Yet, by setting as our highest intention to Feel Good, and to selectively filter life’s “realities” to focus on those where we feel good, we can be at this infinite banquet and ONLY notice that which pleases us. That which does not will get so miniscule of our awareness that it is masked by what gives us joy.
Or not. As Abraham says, we are so VERY free that we can choose to enslave ourselves. Me? I’ll choose to feel good, because that… Feels GOOD! I’ve tried the other way, and it’s taste was not as pleasing to me. How about you?
Love,
Rick
