How can I help others believe that EFT can help them?

The best way is for them to see and experience EFT for themselves, for a specific issue. In introductory classes we will often use several different exercises, with the intention that individual participants will have an “Ah Ha!” moment with at least one of them.

1) A craving, such as a craving for a Hershey Kiss or some other candy or chips or the like.

2) A physical symptom, such as a specific pain in the back or neck or… anywhere!

3) Constricted breathing, where a person’s depth and ease of breath improves noticeably.

Of course, in families and amongst friends, you often just take what presents itself. Frazer Robb shares this story of how he used EFT with his mother:

I thought you might like to hear this tip on helping people believe in EFT. I discovered this while demonstrating muscle testing for PR (psychological reversal) on my Mother. The testing showed that she was reversed on not wanting to eat chocolate (no surprise there!) and as a contrast I tested her on touching her toes and found she wasn’t reversed on that. I asked her if she was able to touch her toes, she tried but couldn’t get much past her knees. You should know that my Mother is 60 years old and hasn’t been able to touch her toes since she was a little girl.

Just for fun we decided to do a round of tapping, without a setup, as she wasn’t reversed according to the muscle testing, on ‘Touching my toes’. I tapped along with her, demonstrating where to tap. She tried again after one round and got a little further. We did 3 more rounds (basic recipe without the setup) and she was able to touch her toes! On top of that I was able to as well, something I haven’t been able to do for years. We did this about 3 months ago and I am pleased to say that we can both still do it without any further tapping.

In itself this is not a particularly interesting story, but as a method of convincing someone that there is something to EFT it has worked marvelously. Not only did it completely convince my Mother but also my Father, who later let me work with his sciatica. It also convinced a few friends who have agreed to let me work with them on issues ranging from back pain to height phobias.

I think this is a simple but effective way of demonstrating to the skeptic that EFT does work. While it isn’t a ‘one-minute wonder’ of healing as such it does show a physical effect that most people would not believe could be achieved in 5 minutes.

Finally please note that my Mother has never had back problems and I would suggest checking with someone about that before proceeding.

Great job, Frazer! Many times these early successes are what help us to increase our belief that EFT can work wonders in ways that are often surprisingly quick.

A couple of notes: I do not do muscle testing myself for what Gary Craig refers to as psychological reversal. I just do the set-up and karate chop tapping. Muscle testing, like EFT, is outside of many people’s paradigms. Since it isn’t necessary, I usually simplify the process by eliminating that step.

There are also ways of describing EFT that helps build a bridge to their understanding. “It’s a form of acupuncture… but without the needles” can help put it in context for some. For computer folks, EFT can be like “a user interface into your operating system where we give it commands and press a few buttons to get great results.”

Don’t be surprised (although you will be the first time you see it happen) when someone finds all kinds of reasons why they are now better… except for their use of EFT. I think it is a sign of true emotional freedom when we can just relax and let it be what it is, and let people give credit wherever they do. As EFT becomes more mainstream over the next 4700 years, I am sure this will be less of an issue.
